PADI IDC course structure
Step ONE
We start the program at your home with 8 x 3 hour live zoom sessions where we cover 80% of the theory and IDC curriculum which is traditionally done in a classroom environment. One of the sessions includes Shark behaviour knowledge
Step TWO
Meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where we make our way to Bimini, Bahamas. Depending on group size we either fly over in a sea plane or transfer to the island via ferry. After check in and orientation we start with the Instructor theory exams.
Step THREE
In-water training for confined water, openwater, classroom presentations and Emergency First Aid Instructor Course
Step FOUR
Shark dives! Experience the thrill of diving with Great Hammerheads, Caribbean Reef Sharks and Bull Sharks and learn about these apex predators and their importance in the eco-system.
Step FIVE
PADI instructor examination, a two day PADI conducted program where it’s your time to shine and the final step to become a PADI instructor. This program is conducted either on Bimini or Fort Lauderdale.

We partner with Neal Watson’s Bimini SCUBA Center on Bimini in the Bahamas. Located only 50 miles off Florida’s coast, Bimini is accessible by seaplane, ferry or commercial airline.
Facts about Bimini:
- Legend associates Bimini with the Fountain of Youth, and it is believed to have been visited by Ponce de León in his search for it in 1513.
- Some also believe the legendary Lost City of Atlantis lies submerged near the islands.
- Ernest Hemingway lived in Bimini and was inspired by the island for his novels, including The Old Man and the Sea
Your Accommodation at Bimini Big Game Resort
During the stay of the PADI IDC on Bimini you will be staying at the Bimini Big Game Resort. The resort is adjacent to the dive shop and offers hotel room style accomodation, each featuring a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean.
Accomodation during the Instructor Development Course is based on double occupancy, but you can upgrade to single occupancy.
The in-house and bar and restaurants offers great meals, but outside food options are available as well.
